finally had fun proper this holidays. went to sentosa with xx yesterday to try out the new attraction, skyride and sentosa luge, ok not exactly new. its been a long time since we been to sentosa. its changed quite alot, especially the beach areas. the huge carparks are now ready and many shops have sprung up in the area. after searching for about 15mins under the hot sun, we finally found the place. theres an ongoing promotion of getting 1 ride free if u purchase 2 rides, so we went straight for it. had to take the sky ride up to the starting area. though its not really high, got abit of height phobia with my legs dangling in the air.
This is the skyride, similar to those found in skiiing places.
xx & i on the sky ride with our "precious" heh Dangling feet
once, we arrived at the luge station, we grabbed helmets and went for the luge driving crashcourse. less then half a minute's time and we were off for a fast ride down. there were zigzag course, u-turns and s-course but of course didn't pose much of a problem for me hee went straight down using a little brake only at the turns.
potential racer queendrift king with his ermm "ultimate" drifting machine heh
3 rides were more then enough to experience the luge, anymore and well it will be quite sian, there's only one route afterall. went to sunbathe after that and swim around in the sea heh left for dinner at around 6.
at around 10, true soccer fans unlike others (ken, dt, xl, shujun and i) went down to ecp to catch the worldcup despite all those who pangseh. the matches for that day were brazil vs. ghana and france vs. spain. the guys and the girls formed teams for the bets. ken, dt and i picked ghana with 2 goal advantage while the girls took the expected winners brazil. unfortunately, brazil won 3-0 and well, lost the bet of 4 pepper drumlets. ah so close, the goals were like offsides, lousy linesman! ghana should be commended for their fighting spirits.Come 2nd match, stakes were slightly higher, losers had to bring the left over drumlets to the mcdonalds ppl, ask them to heat it up and serve to the winners lol, so the girls took favourites spain while the guys followed soccer "expert" dt's tips that france's experience will definitely help them. spain went 1-0 up with a given penalty, "oh shit!" were my thoughts haha almost everyone there were supporting spain, think only 3 of us support france heh fortunatly, after the an equalizer, the french looked set to turn the tide and came back with another 2 goals to finish the game 3-1. the forfeit however were not carried out heh went home at around 6am.
not even exciting worldcup matches could keep this sleeping monster awake lol
went to catch scary movie 4 today, somehow it lowered xx's iq haha anyway entertaining show, liked the series because of its crappy and hilarious remake of old shows and to mash it up together. scary movie 4 is similar to the previous 3, this time involving ju-on, war of the worlds, brokeback mountain, saw, and others. it was funny initially but as the show progressed, it became a bit predictable. maybe i am getting old. 7.5 oats.
england sucks, yellow cards for time wasting!? if not for beckham... is england really that good? or they are just overhyped coz channel 5 only show epl.
finally watched a proper movie this holiday break, caught silent hill today, surprise surprise, xingwei and his gf got the seats beside us, caught up with him a little. the show was quite good. the visual and audio effects were excellent. made me want to go play the game too heh, it makes u wonder who are the real good guys and who are bad. 8 oats, nice horror show.
haiz qinobe got kicked out today, though its true that their performances has all been similar so far, my theory on why they got kicked out? because their malay fans are busy with world cup! lol last week was juz-b, an all malay group, this week is qinobe, all malay except the lead singer. soul was spared because they only had one malay in their group hehe only lucify is gd to watch now.
teams from brazil, italy, france look so weak. favourites to win!? nah
today is hoover park family night, organised by one of those grc committees for our area, never thought i would participate in rc activities. my grandfather has always been active in these things so he bought tix for all of us to go heh anyway it was quite fun, table top bbq with satay and the usual bbq food. the mc for the night was quite hilarious though entertaining us with hokkien hits such as "hua hee jiu hou" and "ai bia jia eh yar"abit scary huh his outfit haha he calls himself wang lei, very typical hokkien singer name. then came the guest of honour for the night, mdm halimah yaacob, mp for our area and she shook hands with my grandparents and even xx lol my bro did well in the sudoku contest and emerged 1st, probably coz he is abit over aged hahahere is my bro(in red) receiving his sudoku prize (a scientific calculator) from our area mp(in green)
and my grandpa got a box of birdnest for helping to sponsor the event. and yeah we won a lucky draw prize too hehe an electric kettle...
xl, yh, dt, gf and his gf, me and xx went on down to our favourite place geylang! to satisify dt's neverending lust for.. durians. following his sensei's advice, we went in search of the famous durian stall beside the temple. there was one though, but it didn't seem all that impressive.we got a basket of durians of various prices, we've got a few $2, $3.50, and one of $5, and $7. go for the $7, the $2 did't really turn out nice, though the $3.50 was rotten (1 seed was rotten and we finished up the rest hehe) and we were given another durian in exchange heh. Dt had a good seat as he was facing some karaoke lounge where we saw a guy taking a taxi with 3 women! !heres our professional trekker back again to show us some of his other skills, no-look durian opening technique. after durian, we went on to yonghe's beancurd place for some drinks. saw a girl with thick make up who i feel looks like jolin tsai but the others insisted not haiz
are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?
we were on a quest, all 5 of us, dt, gf, jr, sw(wow! hehe) and me to fulfil one of jr's greatest dreams! to trek through MacRitchie reservoir to bukit timah hill. sounded abit ridiculous but there is actually such a route. original plan was to meet at 8 am, luckily i pushed for 9 but in the end still late haha sw was the earliest, followed by gf and me then jr and dt who came at around 10.and heres a pic of professional trekker dennis tiong king wei who came well prepared or should i say covered except that he did not bring his waterbottle...
here we are, nearing our midpoint - the canopy walk. here's our professional trekker dennis again in his professional trekking gear, this time showing us the proper speed limit we should follow. finally, we've arrived at the canopy walk after covering 5km. wierd thing is, it started raining once we stepped on the bridge. it rained all the way till we stepped off the bridge!! so after this, we had more treacherous terrains to cover as gf led the way to bukit timah.so from the map (route highlighted in yellow), we covered probably more than 10km, heard from gf rifle range road can catch alot of monkeys at night, can probably go do some monkey catching one of these nights lol finally, after 3hours, we reached bukit timah area. headed straight to bukit timah hawker centre for ice cold sugarcane and of course lunch! congratulations to jr to be able to make her dream a reality and to sw for completing >10km!
seeing people issuing crowns, passing competencies while i remain stationary all the way this term makes me fucking depressed. for the 1st time in my 18 years of education, being retained is slowly becoming a reality. od viva makes me feel like i know nothin. can only complete half of the stuff i planned for clinics. incompetent, thats what i am.
oh fuck it. no more self pity, no more negative thoughts. next term... i will... what have dentistry turned me into.... arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
"Nice guys finish last. You're running out of gas. Your sympathy will get you left behind. Sometimes you're at your best, when you feel the worst. Do you feel washed up, like piss going down the drain"
-Greenday
requirement/competency system... flawless or flawed? flawed definitely, how can one expect to complete all the requirements within 2 years and expect excellent patient management? its difficult but not impossible. lucky ones perhaps are able. so when u are not so lucky, which would u compromise on? be a fucked up dentist-to-be and reject patients(so called useless) to be the best clinical student(best wayang student)? or be an ethical dentist-to-be to try to do your best for all patients you accepted and agreed to treat? by choosing the latter, u face the risk of being slow and unable to graduate in time. so what kind of dentists does the faculty really want to produce? i have really no idea.
in the past week, i've succumbed to temptations and turned to the darkside for a couple of times, i feel bad. i really hope to be able to manage patients well and graduate in time but it seems so difficult...
